Difference between the words advice and advise in English language?

Advice is the noun. So you would talk about 'the best advice' or 'a piece of advice'.





Advise is the verb, as in 'to advise'. You would talk about 'advising', 'I advised that', 'I would advise that'

Actually both the words mean same i.e. to consult. Its just a matter of accent. Some wud write advice, some advise. Both are correct. But advise is less used. There are many such words in english which mean the same but often have different spellings .

'Advice' is a noun, because it is the piece of mind one gives you or you give to someone else.


'Advise' is verb, because it is the ACT OF SERVING that piece of mind.
Advice is the substance, advise is the act.
When you ADVISE someone, you give them ADVICE.
